The Eager Have Landed

Just a quick post to say we have arrived. SIM card not working and struggling to find WiFi. Will update when I can.

On my Uppers

Definition of guilt : Sitting in the Virgin Upper Class Lounge with a free Bloody Mary and Eggs Royale whilst Graham & Chris are breakfasting in Wetherspoons. I'll need to get used to it as I'll soon be sipping champagne on the flight and thinking of them in Economy. I think I'll get over these feelings of guilt, I worked hard to build up these airmiles and I'm going to enjoy spending them.

Tomorrow Never Comes

Well it felt like it yesterday but today has finally dawned and our flight to Sin City will be taking off at 11:20 this morning - and with any luck we'll be on it.

Last night was good fun and the healthy banter makes me think there is a great week ahead and hopefully some good material for the blog. Chris lived up to his Style Gnu moniker (apparently it should have been Style Guru but someone misheard him) by announcing that his T-shirt was worth £65 - let me be the judge of that young man.

Despite the fact that we've nite reached Vegas yet Graham was getting in the mood with the Wetherspoons Double Ultimate Burger, which prompted debate as to if the Ultimate Burger was indeed the ultimate burger how could a double ultimate burger exist. I have a feeling we will be debating more such weighty (pun intended) topics as the week goes on.

Now we are 3

Checked into the hotel at North Terminal and am now back at South Terminal whilst the chaps check their bags in, we didn't really plan this well. Then to Wetherspoons for a last English pint and a horse burger. The currency exchange place is advertising the best US$ rate in the airport , 1.3687 !! Glad I've already got mine. Bloke just walked up and asked for some Euro, "How much do you want" he was asked, "How much have you got" he answered. Its a bleeding currency exchange mate not a corner shop. Graham has just changed his jacket for the third time but I think he has finally made his mind up as to which one to pack and which one to wear. Going to have trouble with him as well.

The Twilight Zone

Arrived Gatwick and used the Twilight check in facility. Great idea but can't help thinking there's something in my case that I will need tonight. Chris seems to have done it the other way around he's checked in to the hotel but not the airport. Going to have trouble with him!!

Begin the Begin

I suppose you could say the tour has started. There is only one of me so far and my first leg is a train to Gatwick (although my predictive text believes I should be going to Patrick). I do have to change trains at Clapham Junction and have a whole 5 minutes to find out which platform I need and get there with a heavy suitcase with a broken handle! I guess it could be worse, I might only have 4 minutes.

The Day before Tomorrow

For some inexplicable reason I don't feel particularly enthused about this trip right now. Perhaps I just need to get thoughts of work out of my system or maybe it's because we don't actually fly out until tomorrow, although who wouldn't be excited about a night at a Premier Inn.

Anyway I need to snap out of this, there are beers to be drunk, blackjack to be played and fun to be had. Need to get packing, $10,000 and a toothbrush should do.

Introductions

Let me introduce you to Clive, Graham and Chris, the 3 eponymous blokes in this blog. Clive will generally be referred to as me, myself or I in the singular or we, ourselves or us in the collective. Graham and Chris will be called Graham and Chris respectively, although the latter may also be referred to as FP or Fizzy Piss, a name endowed upon him in a previous blog due to his penchant for drinking bland lager when a whole oasis of proper beer is available to choose from.

Graham on the other hand is a real ale devotee much like myself (that's Clive in case you weren't paying attention earlier). Whilt we will of course need to embrace the local custom of drinking ice cold coloured water, the craft beer scene in the US has been developing nicely over the last few years and we will no doubt be seeking out some interesting beers.

So that's the introductions over. We will be leaving on Friday 22nd Feb. after overnighting at the luxurious Premier Inn at Gatwick, an exclusive boutique hotel endorsed, I am told, by no lesser a celebrity than Lenny Henry. Oh how the mighty have fallen, I blame that awful sitcom Chef!

Welcome

Welcome to the inaugural post of this Blog, which has been set up for the dubious amusement of those wishing to follow the activities of 3 blokes on a trip to Vegas, but you probably already guessed that from the title. I do need to add a bit of a disclaimer at this point, this blog might not even get off the ground once we have got off the ground. I will be trying to update it on my phone assuming that I can get the US SIM card that I've bought to work. If not I will be at the mercy of WiFi, which I believe is a little scarce in Vegas. So posts are likely to be short, sharp and all over the place, a little like Michael Owen in his heyday.
